Field Value
Title General View of Area from North Cliffs
Description Grand Coulee Dam from North Cliff, showing water from Columbia River Reservoir passing over the spillway drum gates for the first time I in the construction of the dam. There are eleven drum gates, each 125 feet wide, but only 10 are shown operating. The eleventh gate (at the left side in the picture) is temporarily closed to prevent spray from interfering with work on the East Powerhouse, under construction during the year 1942. The two gates at the right of the picture are not open as wide... A few downstream of the Grand Coulee Dam with floodgates open.
