| Description | First of the huge 36,000 kv.-a. transformers to arrive at Coulee Dam. The contractor's 16-wheel trailer was used to transport the transformer from the railroad yards to the left powerhouse. The three trucks in the rear were used for additional braking power on the downhill grades. Private contractor the General Electric Company furnished transformers under the specifications order number 896. This photograph shows the first of many transformers being delivered to the Grand Coulee Dam. |
