Title Excavation for West Highway and Construction Railroad
Description Excavation and removal of overburden in progress on the left tailrace slide area. Excavation has been completed down to the elevation at which the shovels are working. The excavation and removal process depicted began in 1940 and was continued throughout 1941 on a daily basis by three shifts of workers. By completion in August, 1941 total excavated material amounted to 1,08,696 cubic yards of common material and 66,178 cubic yards of rock.

Format Original photographic prints scanned at 24 bit color, with 4000 pixels by the long side, for master TIFF files on an Epson Expression 10,000 XL scanner. Prints were then batch translated into JPEG files. These JPEGs were then added to the CONTENTdm database at WSU Libraries
