Title Safety Signboard
Description Hundreds of workmen pass this safety signboard on their way to and from the construction areas. Numerous innovative safety efforts emerged at the Grand Coulee Dam to forestall and prevent accidents. In 1939 alone 619 workers suffered injuries from falls, lifting, explosives, electricity, tools/machinery, vehicles, and numerous other workers. In total there had been an estimated 2,452 accidents on the project to date and 67 fatalities.(Banks, Columbia Basin History Project 1939 vol. VII, pg. 86)

Format Original photographic prints were scanned at 24 bit 3000 pixels by the long side for master TIFF files on an Epson Expression 10,000 XL scanner. While 24 bit 150 PPI JPEG also created and added to the CONTENTdm database at the WSU Libraries.
