Title | Penstock X-Ray Machine |
Description | A 200,000-volt X-ray machine photographing the circumferential welded seams of a main unit penstock section. One picture covers 16 inches of the seam; the penstock liner is rotated so that successive 16-inch sections of the seam are X-rayed. The film is exposed to X-rays which have first passed through the welded seam, and any slag, gas, or lack of fusion that is present in the weld is revealed by the photograph.
