Washington State University Libraries

Field Value
Title Approach to Fish Ladder
Description A portion of the approach road to the right fish ladder at Rock Island Dam. This road is not completed and was at this time still under construction by Goodfellow Brothers. In a 1938 report by B.M. Brennan, director of the Department of Fisheries he detailed the plans for a project to establish salmon hatcheries on the Wenatchee River. He reported this Central Washington Upper Columbia River Salmon Conservation Project would cost an estimated 2.6 million to be paid from Grand Coulee Construction Funds and would involve trapping fish at Rock Island Dam and transporting them below Coulee Dam and eventually to the Leavenworth fish hatchery.
