Title | Steel Closure Gate |
Description | Closure gate slides into position. The truss supports the roller path guide frame down which the gate slides to its final position. The gate is lowered very slowly in order to prevent excessive fluctuations in the river surface levels below the dam. Engineers designed these huge closure gates to block sections of the diversion trenches for concrete pours that built the Grand Coulee Dam one channel at a time. |
