| Description | The manufacture of 5-inch i.d. porous concrete drain tile. After the mold form is filled with compacted concrete, the core is withdrawn and within a few minutes the mold form is removed. A 5-man crew makes an average of 242 tile in an 8-hour shift. Government inspectors make periodic tests for compression strength and porosity of the drain tile. Workers fabricated these drainage pipes on site and embedded them into blocks of the Grand Coulee Dam to create an extensive drainage system. |
