Title | Deep Crevice Flow |
Description | Deep crevice on east end - location of frozen arch dam was across spill of dark-colored flow near upper left corner. This flow of mud continually overwhelmed excavation efforts in a deep fissure on the bed of the Columbia River. Project engineers constructed a series of interconnected refrigeration pipes to freeze the mud to create the "Ice Dam" or the frozen arch dam. |
