| Description | Grouting plant for service to contraction joints, located under trestle in blocks 10 and 11. This grouting plant served to pressurize and deliver grout to fill the contraction joints located between the concrete cells of the Grand Coulee Dam. Longitudinal and transverse joints, formed by the concrete form lines, open up about 1/10 inch when the concrete is finished cooling to 45 degrees Fahrenheit. This factory supplied the fine cement, water, and the pressure required to complete fill these cracks, turning the individual cells into a water tight monolithic structure.(COBH, vol. V, 157) |
