Cooling Water Feeders

Washington State University Libraries

Field Value
Title Cooling Water Feeders
Description Cooling water feeders in elevation 900 longitudinal gallery. These pipes in the longitudinal gallery run the length of the Grand Coulee Dam. By pumping water continuously through the pipes it prevented the monolithic concrete dam from becoming too hot due to drying and setting concrete. This ensured maximum stability, less shifting and grouting, and overall better concrete quality and durability.
