Field Value
Title Frozen Arch Dam
Description General view, looking west from the east abutment. In the center foreground is the frozen arch dam. Excavation operations are in progress in the center section. By January of 1937 activities under the "Ice Dam" had become routine. Refrigeration pumps maintained a steady Earth temperature of 0 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit, with the cooling and brine system requiring only a minimum amount of care. By May 16, 1937 the arch dam had been dismantled with 93 percent of the pipe recovered.
