Field Value
Title Cofferdam Leak
Description Cells in cluster "G" at point of leak in cofferdam. On March 17, 1937, a leak developed near the extreme west end of the downstream cross-river cofferdam, known as cell cluster "G. Though initially a trickle, within a couple of days the flow increased to over 30,000 gallons per minute. This flow undermined the cofferdam cell and caused it to collapse, though quick action by the contractor prevented disastrous delays in construction.
