Description | Grand Coulee Dam, viewed from the east side. In the foreground appear trestles, and crane equipment used for placing concrete; the middle ground shows excavation work in progress in the main river channel; the background shows concrete placed (1,800,000 cubic yards) in the west side dam and power house area. Standing out prominently in the center of the picture are blocks 39 and 40 which, together, form a section of the dam 100 feet wide. Timber and steel cofferdams extend out from both ends...
