Field Value
Title Brett Gravel Pit
Description Looking west across the aggregate processing plant at the Brett gravel pit. The two Dorr clarifier tanks and trommel screen house to the right, the sand and gravel screening and washing plant in center, and surplus sand pile in the distance. Brett Gravel Pit provided all of the fill and concrete material utilized in the construction of the Grand Coulee Dam. This complex provided everything required for the production and distribution of concrete to the dam site through an elaborate system of pumps that transported the concrete to the west-mix facility on the dam site and then into the buckets and shovels of the men and machines that laid it.
