Deep Point of "Ice Dam" Gorge

Washington State University Libraries

Field Value
Title Deep Point of "Ice Dam" Gorge
Description Deep point in "Ice Dam" gorge in foreground - dam is between barge in pond and stairs leading down from ice plant. Across river is west cofferdam with the two ends partially removed. The pool in this image is formed by the muck flows that consistently plagued excavation efforts on the east side of the Columbia River. The eventual "Ice Dam" was constructed in between the bare and stairs. If observed closely the refrigeration pipes are visible, as well as the refrigeration house used to house the necessary refrigeration equipment to keep the dam frozen.
