Though the bedrock on the west side was of excellent quality this gorge proved troublesome and required special treatment and deep excavation. Reference in the history from 1935 regarding this "lift seam" shows how it was washed, excavated, and then grouted together at great expense of time, money, and labor power under extra work orders Nos. 11, 16, and 17. |
