Description 1 map: hand col., 48 x 58 cm. The Hudson's Bay Company had grown from being a small fur company to a powerful monopoly which held exclusive trade rights throughout western Canada. This maps comes from a British Parliamentary Committee report on the Hudson's Bay Company which resulted in the HBC being stripped of their exclusive rights in south central Canada (in the provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba), with the land being turned over to Canada for settlement.

Format Original maps were scanned in color at 600 dpi on a Microtek 9600XL scanner and saved as TIFF files. The TIFF files were converted into the MrSID format at a compression ratio of 12 to 1 using LizardTech's Geospatial Encoder 1.5 software. These MrSid files were then uploaded into the CONTENTdm database at the Washington State University Libraries. image/jpeg
