Description | 1 map: 11 x 21 cm. Kennewick started as a railroad town in 1883 when a railroad bridge was being constructed across the river there. The town was platted in 1892, and boomed in the early 1900s with the construction of numerous irrigation canals. Kennewick is an Indian phrase which has been translated as "grassy place, winter paradise and dried acorns." |

Format | Original maps were scanned in color at 600 dpi on a Microtek 9600XL scanner and saved as TIFF files. The TIFF files were converted into the MrSID format at a compression ratio of 12 to 1 using LizardTech's Geospatial Encoder 1.5 software.
