Description 1 map ; 13x20 cm. Maps had been used for a variety of purposes- exploration, surveying, attracting settlers. With multiple transcontinental railroad lines now in existence and railroads having to seek new avenues for income, railroad maps began serving another purpose- tourism. This eye-catching map is intended to attract tourists to the western half of the continent in general and specifically to the Northern Pacific Railway as the means to get there.
