Description 1 map : 30 x 23 cm. In September, 1883, the Northern Pacific completed its transcontinental railroad route, opening the northwest to easy emigration and settlement from the east. This map comes from a brochure published by the Northern Pacific and advertising the Pacific Northwest. Format Original maps were scanned in color at 600 dpi on a Microtek 9600XL scanner and saved as TIFF files. The TIFF files were converted into the MrSID format at a compression ratio of 12 to 1 using LizardTech's Geospatial Encoder 1.4 software. These MrSid files were then uploaded into the CONTENTdm database at the Washington State University Libraries. image/jpeg
