In 1892, Washington's land-grant college (Washington Agriculture College as it was then called) had its beginnings on a barren, dusty hilltop overlooking the young town of Pullman. While a number of years and many methods were spent attempting to beautify the school, by it's twentieth anniversary comments were still heard around campus regarding the school's ungainliness. Format Original maps were scanned in color at 600 dpi on a Microtek 9600XL scanner and saved as TIFF files. The TIFF files were converted into the MrSID format at a compression ratio of 12 to 1 using LizardTech's Geospatial Encoder 1.4 software. These MrSid files were then uploaded into the CONTENTdm database at the Washington State University Libraries. image/jpeg
