Bridge Construction Atop Grand Coulee Dam

Washington State University Libraries

Field Value
Title Bridge Construction Atop Grand Coulee Dam
Description Into the bridge spans atop the dam went 7,000 cubic yards of concrete. The live-load stresses due to the H-20 truck-train loadings were increased by an allowance of 30% for dynamic, vibratory and impact effects. In order to withstand the effects of an earthquake shock the bridge was designed to withstand an inertia load equivalent to an acceleration of 0.1 gravity times the mass of the structure, acting in both a horizontal and vertical direction.
