Construction of Spillway Bridge Piers

Washington State University Libraries

Field Value
Title Construction of Spillway Bridge Piers
Description Here is shown the reinforcing of the spillway bridge piers between the drum gates. The temperature differential caused by heating of the pier plates for de-icing created a special problem in design of these structures, and also necessitated much extra reinforcing with steel. Also shown in this picture are some of the inherent hazards and dangers to be found on a construction job of this nature.
