Description Here is shown the manner in which the copper cable was laced thru the reinforcing web on the inside of the pier plates. When current is sent thru this cable it will cause the steel plates to become warm by electromagnetic induction, thus preventing the formation of ice on its exposed surface. more than 9 miles of cable was used in this installation. The system is designed to deliver 70 watts per square foot of plate surface, with 78% of the heat being developed directly in the iron...
