| Description | Movement of materials to the camp site was commenced in the latter part of October to permit construction of the camp headquarters and make possible the starting of tunnel excavation during the winter months, thus providing storage for the water supply at the earliest possible date. Almost 500,000 pounds of food, camp equipment, engines, gasoline, drills, compressors, and other materials and supplies were carried up to the camp established at Nada lake by strings of from 50 to 100 packhorses.... |
