Description | Governor Clarence D. Martin, in a ceremony attended by many state notables and government officials, dumped a bucket of concrete for the first official pour on Dec. 06, 1935. Governor Martin is the man striding along the right side of the pile of concrete inside the form. The last concrete placed under the MWAK contract was in block 34-F at 8:00 PM. Jan. 10, 1938. Governor Clarence D. Martin poured the first official pour in the dam on Dec. 06, 1935, in block 16G."(Note: For this he received a check from M.W.A.K. for 75 cents for 1 hour of concrete labor)" The test pours of block 14G was not an official pour. The first mix of concrete was Nov. 28, 1935. |
