Description A view of the Brett Gravel Pit in September of 1936 showing the operation of the extensible lateral conveyor belt feeders. The main conveyor belt dumped the material into the raw aggregate stock pile from where another belt carried it into the five-story gravel processing plant, out of view below the pit floor in the upper right of the picture. As the material was taken into the plant it was weighed on a chronoflow weighing conveyor which automatically recorded it on a totalizer resembling... Aggregate for concrete came from glacial material at the Brett Gravel Pit. George Brett, the owner of this land, tried to sell the aggregate to the Bureau of Reclamation by the cubic yard. As such he was condemned to prevent his speculation. A jury awarded him 3,580 for 233.79 acres of land owned by him and 2.82 acres owned by a E. W. Schenkengast.(Clifford R. Koester. Format Original photographic prints were scanned at 24 bit 3000 pixels by the long side for master TIFF files on an Plustek OpticBook 3600 Plus. Also, 24 bit 150 PPI JPEGs were created with the OpticBook 3600 Plus and added to the CONTENTdm database at the WSU Libraries
