Field Value
Title Clearing Final Bedrock
Description Jackhammer crews are here shown working on final bedrock just east of block 40. The buttress wall in the background contains 3,000 cubic yards of concrete, and was rushed to completion as a continuous pour in a week's time. It was placed to strengthen the cofferdam cell cluster when it was threatened with a leak similar to the one which occurred in the downstream corner on March 16 -20th., 1937. Bulkheads placed in the outside ends of the galleries prevent the river from pouring into the... Lower foundational work in preparation for pouring the individual blocks to construct a base for the Grand Coulee Dam.
