| Description | When the United States Government learned that the Columbia Basin Commission had approved and executed the contract between the government and the Commission for the construction of Grand Coulee Dam, it called for bids for excavating some 2,000,000 cubic yards of earth and 40,000 yards of rock at the dam site.
