Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; 3.9 39 39 the joint lead agencies meet annually with the national council on historic preservation NCHP the utah state historic preservation office SHPO and the ute tribe to review plans and the status of compliance with cultural resource laws and regulations on projects in utah A com commitment hutment nutment was made to the SHPO and NCHP that the CUWCD being the lead agency for this 203 project would provide class 111 ni III kii kil cultural resource surveys for proposed features that may cause disturbance to cultural features from those surveys CUWCD will develop and carry out appropriate mitigation plans rather than enter into a programmatic agreement surveys of the features to date have not shown that mitigation beyond additional recordation of historic resources would be necessary however nine remaining high mountain lakes located on the yellowstone drainage are still slated for survey during summer 2001 survey at these lakes must be conducted during their period of maximum drawdown that cannot occur until late august survey of high mountain lakes within the lake fork drainage was completed in late august and early september 2000 in 2000 the snows began in early september making completion of the surveys of nine additional lakes in the yellowstone drainage impossible therefore surveys within the yellowstone drainage will be completed this year it appears based on the lakes surveyed on the lake fork drainage that it is very likely prehistoric sites eligible for NRHP may be found below the lake high water lines at the nine lakes on the yellowstone drainage in addition recordation of the historic dam sites will win be necessary we do not expect significant impacts to occur from stabilizing the nine high mountain lakes in the yellowstone drainage upon completion of the class III 111 JII lii ili ill cultural resource surveys of the nine lakes within the yellowstone drainage the CUWCD will formally consult with the utah SHPO and informally with the ute tribes cultural resource coordinator Ms betsy chapoose through this consultation we will determine the effects of the project on the identified cultural resources and agree on what mitigation measures would be necessary to date in consultation with the utah SHPO the project has resulted in only minor effects with minimal mitigation requirements 443 4 43
