Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; B WATER EXCHANGES A possible alternative to the jordanelle jordanehe Jor jon danelle daneHe danele project as proposed could be to provide the required amount of municipal and industrial water supply through exchange agreements and construction of a smaller 150000 to 200000 acre feet reservoir at the Jor jordanelle jordanetle Jordane danelle tie tle lie site or a reservoir of similar size at the bates or pine valley sites the water supply average annual yield from jordanelle jordanehe Jor danelle daneHe would be 104100 acre feet with a 320000 acre foot reservoir and is intended for municipal an and d industrial uses in salt lake city20000 city 20000 acre feet salt lake county water conservancy district 50000 acre feet utah county areas 20000 acre feet and 14100 acre feet for agricultural service areas in the heber city and francis areas metropolitan water district of salt lake city it appears that the metropolitan water district of salt lake city MWD will wi11 not need additional water supplies until the year 2000 however the MWD does doe s need access to the jordan aqueduct to provide adequate flow capacity to existing and developing areas of the city this aqueduct is currently under construction and is scheduled for completion within the next year in order for the MWD to buy into this aqueduct it must first petition the bureau of reclamation for project water the MWD does not have to petition petiti on for the full 20000 acre feet it can petition for a smaller amount salt lake city and the metropolitan water district are parties to a memorandum of understanding with salt lake county water conservancy district central utah water conservancy district and the bureau of reclamation this memorandum is designed to provide central utah project project water to salt lake city and salt lake county prior to the actual completion of the bonnevilleunit Bonneville unit facilities 105
