Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; NATIONAL PARK SERVICE REPORT to some extent state cooperation could be involved through participation by the state road commission in maintenance of roadside picnic camp areas and reservoir access roads and parking areas recommended further study and planning As project plans are developed it will be especially necessary in this case to make a comprehensive reconnaissance on which further study can be based and recommendation made regarding land acquisition and the selection of sites suitable for appropriate recreational developments HANNA RESERVOIR general description of the area location current plans call for locating the hanna reservoir on the duchesne river the reservoir would be a few miles upstream from tabiona fabiona with the dam about 2 miles below the post office of the town of hanna in western duchesne county northeastern utah the hanna reservoir is planned for a normal el at 6886 with a 360 acre pool the maximum pool at el elo eio 6894 would inundate 430 acres y but this would be very rare and probably of very brief duration the minimum pool contemplated at el 6840 would have a 100 acre surface actual operation would however average within more nominal limits with an average maximum pool in the spring at el 6884 and a 340 acre reservoir and an average minimum pool at el 6868 and a 240 acre pool the average annual fluctuation is thus indicated as 16 f feet the 26 year period of study reveals that the reservoir would be reduced to the minimum minim tim lim tum at least during part of the recreational use season about five years out of such a period this is not ideal for recreational use by any means but nevertheless it is not believed that it would preclude the possibility of limited reservoir recreational use physical characteristics the hanna reservoir will be at the southern toe of the uinta mountains in an area of irrigated farms the immediate vicinity is rolling and quite picturesque with the uinta peaks in the background there is ample space for camping development well related to the reservoir it seems probable the reservoir will be suitable for fishing and the area should be suitable for limited general recreational use 14
