Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; NATIONAL pard PARK pari SERVICE REPORT UPALCO UPALGO RESERVOIR general description and appraisal the dam for the th upalco reservoir will be on big sand lash bash iash in section 21 T 2 S R 3 W uintah special base and meridian this will be about 1 mile northwest of the town of upalco in duchesne county northeast utah present planning for the upalco reservoir calls for filling and emptying the reservoir every year although maximum water surface elevation of 5896 5396 will impound a pool of 415 surface acres it is assumed in the absence of a study of reservoir content by months that the reservoir will probably draw down quite rapidly the water will be used to supplement present irrigation supplies and for municipal purposes the normal water surface elevation will be 5892 with 385 surface acres and minimum water surface will be at elevation 5823 with 35 surface acres while the normal pool is sizeable it does not seem logical to recommend actual recreational development in view of the anticipated rapid drawdown which will empty the reservoir each season aside from the recreationally recreation ally undesirable plan of 0 operation pe ration the immediate surroundings are quite barren with only limited vegetative cover this reservoir will be only a few miles from the proposed starvation reservoir on the duchesne river where limited recreational development has been recommended under presentindications present indications the upalco upaleo ubaleo reservoir would be of best recreational service if left open for incidental use no recreational developments are recommended MIDVIEW RESERVOIR general description and appraisal appi aisal aasal the midview dam and reservoir presently in use are located off offstream stream from the duchesne river approximately 10 miles east of duchesne utah in section 36 T 3 S ro R 3 W uintah special base and meridian A feeder canal approximately 7 miles long extends northeast from the duchesne river to this reservoir the midview reservoir is now a part of the moon lake project but according to plans for the initial phase of the central utah project an operational restudy will be accomplished all present lands will be served for irrigation revised operational studies call for emptying the reservoir practically every irrigation year and luring during certain years it may empty and partially refill in the 8
