Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; zooplankton communities OF UTAH LAKE zooplankton which have been collected from utah lake include the following taxa 1 rotifera phylum rotifera rotifera were not classified to species 2 copepods copepoda Cope pods phylum arthropoda class crustacea the nauplii and immature copepods copepoda cope pods for all copepods copepoda cope pods collected were combined for analysis the adult copepods copepoda cope pods diaptomus sicilis sicalis sic ilis cyclops vernalis were separated for the analysis 3 cladocerans Clado cerans phylum arthropoda class crustacea the following cladocerans clado cerans were collected pseudosida Pseudo sida bi dentata ceriodaphnia Cerio daphnia quadrangular quadrangula qua drangula daphnia retrocurva chydorus Chy dorus sphaericus bosmina bossina longirostris longiro stris and leptodora kindti kindri conclusions for zooplankton studies 1 in terms of total all taxa zooplankton density the highest numbers were found in summer and late fall while the lowest densities were present during the winter both when the lake was iced over and immediately after the ice melted in april table 2c ac 2 goshen bay was very similar to the main lake in zooplankton seasonal density trends and seasonal changes in community composition 2 the transect and intensive zooplankton data show that provo bay has the highest concentrations of zooplankton for example during september 1978 the mean density of zooplankton along the provo bay transect was 201liter 201 liter while the mean for the rest of the lake main lake and goshen bay was 66liter 66 liter in april 1979 the mean number for provo bay was 248 liter and the mean number for the rest of the lake was 138liter 138 liter and in july 1979 provo bay had a mean number of 536liter 536 liter and for the rest of the lake the mean number was 175liter 175 liter 3 during ice cover march and early spring april in the main lake and goshen bay the copepod diaptomus and the rotifera dominated in percent composition approximately 65 percent and 30 percent respectively while in provo bay the rotifa rotina made up 79 percent of the 261 2 61
