Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; NATIONAL PARK SERVICE REPORT same season although the reservoir will reach a maximum of 404 surface acres at elevation 52600 the rapid drawdown to 5222.0 52220 53320 53330 with no capacity should preclude the possibility of recommending recreational development this reservoir like the upalco reservoir is near the proposed starvation since neither midview nor upalco is comparable in size to starvation and each may fill and empty in one irrigation season it seems unjustified to expect much recreational use only negil gible recreational value would result from the casual use that may occur starvation RESERVOIR general description of the area location the bureau of reclamation proposes to locate the dam for the tht aht starvation reservoir on the strawberry river about 3 miles upstream from the town of duchesne in south central duchesne county utah the reservoir will be about 120 miles southeast of salt lake lahe olty city U S highway 40 passes through the reservoir site and will require some 6 miles of re routing because of the importance of U S 40 the area is considered easily accessible even though there are no other major roads to provide immediate access from some of the small mountain communities purpose of reservoir this reservoir of 2500 surface acres at normal water surface elevation at 5753.8 57538 57538 is proposed for regulatory and holdover storage for irrigation the dam will not only impound waters of the strawberry river below the strawberry reservoir but a diversion canal will carry water from the duchesne river into the reservoir the normal and maximum reservoir elevations given for the reservoir are the same ie 57538 5753.8 5753 5753. 57538 the minimum pool contemplated is at el 5631.0 56310 with a surface of 275 acres average annual fluctuations however would be within more nominal limits the mean average maximum pool being indicated by the sponsor at el 5733.0 57330 57330 with a surface of 2080 acres and a mean average minimum pool at el e1 ea 5703.0 57030 57030 with a 1360 acre impoundment this indicates an averag average annual vertical fluctuation of 30 feet the average maximum pool at el 5733 indicates that during many years the full or normal pool would not be reached 9
