Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; response the benefits on the diamond fork fishery would be significant but only during the interim operation period therefore they are not included in the economic analysis of the municipal and industrial system the overall benefits and impacts of the bonneville unit in diamond fork would be analyzed in the diamond fork power system environmental state ment 28 comment page C 34 7 fisheries end of first sentence the full enhancement of the diamond fork stream fishery is uncertain since many of the flows will be after the general fishing season is closed brown trout spawning activities in october and november could be reduced reduce d considerably by the maximum flows listed on page C 21 there is also a possibility of increasing the turbidity in certain stream sections if these maximum flow levels are released during this same period response the discussion of enhancement to the existing fishery explained in the response to comment 1 above would also apply here flows provided to this system under interim operation would have a substantial benefit on the fishery including both adult and spawning fish spawning habitat would be reduced by the maximum flows but their frequency of occurrence is so small 2 percent that effects on the population would not be significant 29 comment page C 40 b diamond fork spanish 5panish fork drainage fourth paragraph first sentence we doubt that 3000 man days can be captured by addi tional dional fishing on the diamond fork system since the additional stream releases would be made only for the last 2 months of the regular fishing season when hunting takes over the spotlight the impact of increased flows on brown trout fall spawning should be evaluated and mentioned response the 3000 manday man day estimate of additional fishing is a rough but reason able estimate based on the substantial improvement in the trout habitat from interim flows although the improved flows would only be apparent for the final 2 months of the fishing season the benefit to the fish ery attained during the winter months would carry over to the following season by increased brown trout reproduction and overall better physio physia logical condition of the fish which should provide more and better year round fishing opportunities 30 comment page C 44 9 wildlife first sentence the wildlife habitat that would be disturbed or eliminated should be identified as to ownership 81
