Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; CHAPTER CRAPTER V MUNICIPAL AND AMD industrial WATER additional 5500 acre feet of water on the assumption that the population of the communities considered will increase to 121000 in the next 50 years and that the daily demand for water will average 210 gallons per capita the total requirements for the year 2000 are estimated at 28400 acre feet or 21600 acre feet more than the present supply since a small part of this water may be provided from present irrigation supplies released through urban development of the land it i4 ia u is planned that only 20000 acre feet of municipal water would be provided the area in the initial phase of the central utah project projects the county areas outside of salt lake city could use a portion of the provo river project supply of the salt lake city metropolitan water district as soon as the water becomes available the metropolitan water district however has acquired this water as a reserve for future city growth and may rent it to the county areas temporarily with the expectation that the county needs can be supplied from another source in the future approval of the initial phase of the central utah project for construction would assure the additional source of water and thus could bring immediate release of salt lake cites citys reserve supply for temporary use in the county areas arease anease utah county municipal supplies problems of water supply for municipal and other miscellaneous purposes in utah county are expected in the near future in the area from spanish fork north to lehi communities south of spanish fork are not experiencing industrial growth like those to the north and their present water supplies will provide for normal growth for many years communities in utah county obtain most of their municipal water from springs in in the canyon areas to the east wells supplement the supplies of some of the larger cities and furnish the only water for several of the smaller communities metropolitan water districts have been formed in five areas in this part of utah county and have subscribed to water from the provo river project in the quantities shown below subscription to metropolitan provo river project water district acrey accey acre f feet eet beet annually provo 8000 orem 1500 pleasant grove and linden 500 american fork 500 lehi 500 total 11000 95
