Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; CHAPTER I 1 PURPOSE AND NEED FOR ACTION introduction and purpose supplements to existing environmental impact statements EIS are prepared when significant modifications are made to a proposed action or when new circumstances or information create effects which have not been adequately analyzed A supplement generally follows the same format and is processed in the same manner as an EIS the purpose of this supplement is accordingly to report and evaluate two types of elements che the environmental impacts of proposed modifi modify canions cations to the municipal and industrial mai m&i system plan and impacts not previously covered by the final environmental statement FES 7955 79 55 which was filed with the environmental protection agency EPA on octo ber 25 1979 proposed actions for which analyses or consultations have been conducted include 1 relocating US highway 189 along an alignment different from that described in the FES 2 adding a new wasatch county road 3 relocating the outlet works of jordanelle Jor danelle dam from the right to the left abutment 4 adjusting the reservoir management boundary and land for project features 5 modifying the fishery mitigat mitigate mitigationrecreation mitigation ionrecreat recreation ion lon plan between the proposed jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir and the existing deer creek reservoir by refining provo river access requirements and eliminating recreation development plans for boating and tubing on the river 6 modifying the wildlife mitigation plan 7 evaluating impacts to area wetlands not covered in the FES and 8 consultations with the fish and wildlife service under section 7 of the endangered species act for the june sucker a recently listed endangered species this supplement also provides a brief update of the status of the mai m&i system since the filing of the FES some circumstances have changed some features have been constructed additional geologic studies have been conducted and progress has been made on commitments made in
