Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; about 2250 acres of vegetation about a third less than in the proposed plan would be permanently removed by hailstone dam and reservoir the vegetation lost would include 1130 acres of native shrubs 680 acres of streamside riparian vegetation 400 acres of agricultural lands primarily grass pasture and 40 acres of aspen woodland hailstone dam and reservoir would have significantly greater adverse impacts on mule deer and golden eagles than the proposed plan while impacts on other wildlife would be about the same because of a higher water surface elevation at and the relocation of US highway 189 through the west hills more than four times as much critical mule deer winter range and 40 percent more deer would be lost than in the proposed plan and a more extensive mitigation plan would be required to compensate for these increased losses the highway relocation would also result in disturbance of a key breeding and nesting area for sage grouse and as a result some form of mitigation would be required adverse impacts on golden eagles would be the probable loss of an eyrie or at least the use of the eyrie neither of which would be mitigable four large raptor nesting sites would be lost the same as in the proposed plan impacts on cultural resources would be the same as in the proposed plan b deer creek dam and reservoir enlargement with keetley dam and reservoir 1 plan of development under this alternative deer creek dam and reservoir would be enlarged to provide additional storage capacity and a small keetley dam and reservoir would be constructed to provide irrigation water upstream of the enlarged reservoir the increased capacity at deer creek reservoir combined with the capacity of keetley reservoir would be the same as the capacity of jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir in the proposed plan deer creek dam would be enlarged by building up its downstream face and increasing its height by 59 feet these measures would increase the capacity of the reservoir by 290000 acre feet the existing deer creek powerplant Power plant would be dismantled and a new 5 megawatt plant with an annual electrical production of nearly 43 million kilowatt hours about 20 percent more than in the proposed plan would be constructed at the downstream base of the enlarged deer creek dam keetley reservoir with a capacity of 30000 acre feet would be formed by keetley dam on drain tunnel creek about 8 miles north of heber and about 2 miles upstream of the jordanelle Jor danelle adamsite damsite Dam site A feeder pipeline with a capacity of 130 cfs cs would divert provo river flows and convey them about 4.3 43 43 miles to the reservoir from which they would be released for irrigation of lands in the heber and francis areas H 31
