Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; 79 the smaller is 2 m in diameter the occupation area on the lower terrace is approximately 15 m by 15 m the cobbles used in the alignments are 20 cm to 30 cm in diameter and are readily available at the edge of the bench cultural material observed includes fragments of purple bottle glass and of a porcelain plate made by the burguss barguss and campbell company a square iron nail a can top a green glass bead and a few flakes the site has an historic component and may have a prehistoric component of unknown date and cultural affiliation 42un538 site 42un538 is an open site consisting of cobble concentrations and historic debris over an area of approximately 2000 square meters the site is on the western edge of the first bench east of the duchesne river flood plain it is 700 m east of the duchesne river and 100 m northeast of site 42un537 an abandoned wooden cabin is located on the flood plain approximately 200 m west of the site the bench is composed of quaternary gravels over lying uinta formation strata and the flood plain is com posed of recent alluvium shadscale Shad scale and saltbush are the dominant vegetation on the site the elevation is 1448 meters numerous cobble concentrations occur in the area no clear alignments can be distinguished since the cobbles have been badly scattered some concentrations appear to have been circular and are associated with historic material the cobbles in the concentrations are much larger than the pebbles of the desert pavement fragments of purple glass and of porcelain cans and a metal buckle were observed the site has an historic component 42un539 site 42un539 is an open site consisting of a semicircular alignment of cobbles the site is located on the western edge of the first bench east of the duchesne river flood plain the site is 700 m east of the duchesne river and 100 m north of site 42un538 the bench is composed of quaternary gravels overlying uinta formation strata and the flood plain is composed of recent alluvium the dominant vegetation on the site is shadscale shad scale fourwing fourling four wing
