Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; would compensate for the loss of sagegrouse sage grouse and deer habitat to the reservoir and partially offset other wildlife losses as well the wildlife lands would be managed by the utah division of wildlife resources f fisheries program the fisheries program would consist of the stabilization of 12 reservoirs in the upper provo river to enhance their fishery and recreation value storage at big elk trial and wall lakes in the upper drainage and at jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir to provide fishery flows in the provo river at critical periods a multilevel outlet works in jordanelle Jor danelle dam so that the water temperature of releases to the river could be maintained in a range compatible with trout and a trout stocking program at jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir the upper provo river reservoirs and the provo river to maintain minimum flows for trout in the provo river 300 acre feet of storage would be provided in big elk trial and wall lakes in the headwaters and 20000 acre feet would be provided at jor danelle A L 7 fishery releases from big elk trial and wall lakes would be made in the late summer in extremely poor water years so chac chat that chau chah 10 cfs cs minimum could be maintained in a 7 mile reach of the provo river immediately upstream of jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir that would otherwise be de watered because of project and nonproject non project irrigation diversions fishery releases from jordanelle Jor danelle would be made during the winter months so that minimum flows of 125 cfs cs between jordanelle Jor danelle and deer creek reservoirs and 100 cfs cs between deer creek reservoir and the olmsted diversion dam could be maintained these releases would also provide a 25 cfs cs minimum flow during the winter from the diversion dam to utah lake the stocking of trout in jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir would be under management practices developed by the utah division of wildlife resources which has a policy of providing 50 percent of the fish stocking for federal reservoirs in the state trout stocking that would probably be necessary co to accommodate the increased fishing use in the 12 stabilized reservoirs and along the 10 mile section of river immediately below jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir would be the responsibility of the utah division of wildlife resources overall the fisheries program along with the public acc abc access ess that would be provided along the provo river between jordanelle Jor danelle and deer creek reservoirs would essentially compensate for coldwater stream 1 under normal conditions the project and nonproject non project releases and bypasses for various other uses would provide sufficient flows to maintain minimum flows below jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir but in abnormally dry years an additional supply would be required during the 44 year project operation study the reserve capacity of 20000 acre feet for maintaining minimum minimum fishery flows below jordanelle Jor danelle reservoir was required only in I 1 1 year when not required for stream fishery releases the water would remain in the reservoir to contribute to the lake fishery there A 21
