Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; recreation potential at jordanelle danelle Jor reservoir would help to meet the predicted long term demand for outdoor recreation use in the area while stabilization of the upper provo river reservoirs would enhance their wilderness quality whitewater boating and other recreation activities would be enhanced by the provision of additional public access along the provo river other long term benefits of the project would include improved fisheries in the 12 upper provo river reservoirs to be stabilized and in the diamond fork drainage a longterm long term commitment to the maintenance and improvement of wildlife values within the reservoir management boundary above waterline and highway improvements within the area of roadway relocation the new supply made available for municipal and industrial use would represent a long term benefit to the salt lake county and northern utah county areas in meeting future needs there would be a longterm long term improvement in agricultural productivity as a result of an improved and stable water supply which would stimulate farm related businesses and through the multiplier effect benefit the area economically to a greater extent than the value of the farm output alone 3 relationship between project development and future options for resource development the fuels materials and work force required for project construe construc con struc tion and operation would not be available for other uses federal funds committed to the project could not be put to other uses the inundation of streams and land by reservoir construction would eliminate any reasonable alternative use of these areas in the future including their use for wildlife livestock recreation sites and home sites the proposed development of the project water supply for irrigated agriculture and mai m&i use would not preclude the long term option of using the water for different beneficial purposes alternative use of the federally developed resource could however only be made following compliance with NEPA and other appropriate federal provisions F 2
