Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; 75 site has an historic ute component and may have a prehistoric component the age and cultural affiliation of the prehistoric component are unknown 42un529 site 42un529 is an open site consisting of two cobble concentrations and a scatter of historic and possible prehistoric material the site is located 10 m from the western edge of the first bench overlooking the duchesne river flood plain and is approximately 900 m east of the duchesne river the site is 100 m south of site 42un527 along the same bench the bench is com posed of quaternary gravels overlying uinta formation strata and the flood plain immediately west of the site is composed of recent alluvium shadscale Shad scale prickly pear cactus and low grasses are the predominant vegetation the elevation is 1448 meters the larger concentration is a scatter of large cobbles 10 cm to 40 cm in diameter the concentration occurs in an area seven meters on a side it has been disturbed and the original alignment of the cobbles is unknown the smaller concentration is oval 2 m by 3 m and is composed of cobbles such cobbles do not occur naturally on this section of the bench here the surface is paved by small pebbles 1 cm to 3 cm in diameter and by sand the area of occupation is approximately 30 m by 30 m glass and porcelain fragments a suspender hook from a pair of trousers and two or three flakes were found the site has an historic component and may have a prehistoric component the age and cultural affiliation of the prehistoric component are unknown 42un530 site 42un530 is an open site consisting of two cobble alignments the site is less than 100 m south of site 42un529 and is located near the western edge of the first bench above the duchesne river flood plain the bench is composed of quaternary gravels overlying uinta formation strata and the flood plain is composed of recent alluvium the sparse vegetation on the site includes shadscale shad scale and low grasses the elevation is
