Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; the objective of this program is to maintain salinity concentrations at or below present levels in the lower main stem of the colorado river the program would be coordinated with related belated programs of the bureau of reclamation such as the western US water plan geothermal investigations and weather modification cooperative activities will also be conducted with the office of water research and technology thus the salinity problem is to be treated as a basin wide problem that needs to be solved to control salinity levels while white the upper basin continues to develop its compact apportioned waters on this basis any salinity increases arising from development of the jensen unit are expected to be offset by the colorado river water quality improvement program and related activities which include control of diffuse sources of salinity dilution by mixing with higher quality water and de salination plants as provided by the salinity control act discussed above the definite plan reports for the four salinity control works authorized for construction by PL 93320 93 320 are scheduled for completion during FY 1976 it is expected that construction of these facilities will follow thereafter measures would be taken to provide for sewage and solid waste dis disposal Dosal from the recreation development that would not be harmful or esthetically esthetic alty atty aily unpleasant to the area As described in chapter A sewage would be stored in holding tanks and periodically trucked to the vernal sewage sevage treatment facility likewise solid waste would be disposed of at the existing landfill operation at vernal utah d air quality aspects As ects acts the utah state division of health is responsible for administering the air conservation program in utah A special committee to formulate air quality standards for utah was appointed by the governor following passage of the air conservation act by the legislature in 1967 this committee has determined air pollution sources and amounts for each county as a basis for preparing the standards the data for uintah and salt lake counties are shown in chapter B air quality aspects of the jensen unit have been reviewed by the environmental protection agency and the utah division of health and their comments utilized in preparation of this statement anticipated air pollution from construction of the jensen unit would result primarily from noise dust and combustion and would be temporary air pollution resulting from increased population and industrial growth would be continuing construction activities would be controlled by the specifications and municipal growth and industrial development would be subject to city and county zoning ordinances and state air pollution standards it is the intent of the bureau of reclamation that the jensen D 5
