Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; 100 years 126 izo it has become increasingly difficult for waterfowl man managers aaers 0 to maintain existing populations of birds the unit would have serious adverse impacts on oli 011 no nongame rgame argame birds and animals in local situations such as provo pro vo 70 bay it is difficult to assess the broader effects particularly since the habitats of nongame species are not as well studied is as are those of game species spa cies cles the center for health and environmental studies brigham young university in its survey of the bonneville unit area has included so sone some soke ne general com comments nents bents regarding the probable impacts the bonneville unit would nave have upon the birds and animals of the affected area66 some of these comments are quoted below of paramount importance is the possible impact of the central utan uta 1 project on the birdlike birdlife bird life of the areas involved this is a matter that will depend upon many factors that are difficult to evaluate at the present time but the following suggestions may be made 1 creation of the small stillwater ald aid aid currant creek reservoirs in and of itself would likely likely have little effect on the birdlife birdlike bird life of these areas some waterfowl and shore birds may be attracted to them but mainly for resting stops rather than for nesting such bodies of water subject to considerable variation in shoreline are not conducive to the growth of eyner einer eymer emergent sent gent and submergent sub mergent vegetation which are basic in providing the necessary cover and food for breeding populations of such birds if the stillwater and currant creek areas are improved and expanded for camping and other recreational purposes so as to bring large numjers num numbers jers of people into the area this would have more of a detrimental effect on the birds alid ard aid other wildlife than would the alterations of the habitat resulting from the proposed reservoirs tunnels and pipeline 2 what ha has been said for the high altitude stre streams tums alms tlms and reservoirs could also be said of the proposed jordanelle Jor danelle and aad diamond fork 356
