Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; while the total loss of 12 to 13 acres of habitat would not be significant individually such loss would be cumulatively important the physical disturbance of the old stable and relatively unique juniper vegetative community would result in some ecological instability characterized by soil erosion plant succession and changes in use of the area by wildlife the esthetic character of the location would be altered to some extent in a negative manner by the disturbance the activities of construction vehicles would cause temporary undesirable effects including noise dust odors and smoke that would be esthetically displeasing to humans as well as interfering with the life activities of local birds and mammals unless restricted recreational vehicles such as motor bikes ranging out from recreation areas could cause similar undesirable pollution of a more permanent nature 2 operational imp irp impacts cts acts the recreational capability of the jensen unit area would be increased through the development of tyzack reservoir and attendant facilities the national park service analysis of the proposed plan estimates an optimnoinnual optimum annual use of the recreational complex of 40000 recreation days 40 it is anticipated that the facilities described above would receive maximum high intensity utilization the 520 acre surface area of the tyzack reservoir would be relatively small and would not accommodate a large number of boats numerous inlets and coves would provide a unique boating experience especially for small non powered craft the rese reseryqir r would provide an estimated 9500 man days of fishing annuallyy91 annually ua u7 and is expected to receive moderate angling pressure the angling capacity of tyzack reservoir would be similar to that presently exhibited by nearby steinaker reservoir area about 600 acres in 1968 and 1969 steinaker reservoir provided 12574 and 9307 man days of fishing respectively using a fingerling fingerting fin gerting trout stocking program similar to the one proposed for tyzack reservoir twenty and 15 man days of fishing per acre on steinaker reservoir resulted in harvest yields of 300 30.0 300 390 and 22.6 226 226 pounds per acre for each respective year thus the 9500 man days of fishing projected for tyzack reservoir appears consistent with that demonstrated for an existing similar reservoir ecosystem factors limiting the fishing potential would be competition with nearby fisheries such as flaming gorge reservoir about 30 miles away and substantial drawdown that would occur seasonally and periodically depending upon annual inflow of water and demand on the average the surface area of the reservoir would approximate 440 acres during the main portion of the recreational season from june through november however in about one out of four years drawdown would result in a reservoir surface C 9
