Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; 2 page B 52 second paragraph sage grouse are generally restricted to sagebrush communities in three zones s submontane shrub pinyon juniper and mixed desert shrub page B 55 third paragraph seven alternate golden eagle nests have been located on the cliff near the taskeech Tas keech reservoir site these nests represent two consistently active breeding pairs one nest was active in 197879 1978 79 and two young were produced both years the prairie falcon nest was active in 1978 and three young were produced it was also active in 1979 but it is not known how many young were produced page C 8 section d the increases in post project angler use on the high country lakes ant att after er stabilization seem excessive since there will only be total gains all lakes of 1.2 12 12 surface acres and 0.3 03 03 oo shoreline miles during the recreation season however there should be very substantial gains in fishery quality as well as reduced stocking demands to the utah division of wildlife resources the high lakes mitigation analysis should consist primarily of habitat measures rather than angler use this would be entirely consistent with division of wildlife resources stream analysis in which habitat evaluations are the primary indicators of mitigation values page C 8 table C 3 the angler day use adu ADU ADD on the 14 high lakes with and without the project Is high an intensive creel census on granddaddy lake in 1977 showed 1712 ADUs this is probably the highest use on any of the south slope uinta mountain lakes some of the 14 lakes in the project receive little use while others particularly in the brown duck basin have significant use the utah division of wildlife resources has estimated there will be 4500 ADUs on the 14 lakes with a projected increase of about 10 to 15 percent resulting from stabilization the increase of 14100 ADUs on moon lake may also be too high the average annual pool will be smaller although annual fluctuation will be decreased by about eight feet this table has no man days for big game we suggestion inclusion of the following from the impact report published by the bureau of sports fishery and wildlife on december 28 1967 without project with project gain or loss mule deer 8000 8000 0 elk 200 200 0 suggested update by the utah division of wildlife resources also the figures 11400 and 1100 should be changed to 11300 and 1000 for upland game and waterfowl hunting to conform with figures in the bureau of sports fishery and wildlife december 28 1967 impact report page C 32 section b page D 5 second paragraph these sections imply that it is anticipated the ute tribe would gain management of the fishery and recreation resources at taskeech Tas keech reservoir and that the U S fish and wildlife service would stock 200 to 250 fingerlings ftngerlings gerlings fin per acres to maintain angler use since most of taskeech Tas keech reservoir is on non indian public land the utah division of wildlife resources will maintain full management responsibility for the non indian portion 1 111 ill ili
