Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; miles of the yellowstone river immediately above and below boneta diversion dam and project operations would increase average flows in the lake fork river between moon lake and taskeech Tas keech reservoirs other beneficial changes from project operation include public access to 2 additional miles of the yellowstone river as a result of the acquisi acquini tion of adjoining private land for project wildlife habitat c existing reservoir and lake fisheries 1 twin pots reservoir the stabilization of twin pots reservoir as one of the compensation measures for project caused stream fishery losses would insure that in the future a complete fish kill of the kind that occurred during the winter of 197778 1977 78 would not recur stabilizing the reservoir would also increase the total aquatic productivity of the reservoir by creating a more permanent shallow water zone for emergent and aquatic plants at this time it is not known whether the reservoir can be maintained at a permanent high water level because of an ill defined leakage problem however there are some indications that most of the leakage is toward the taskeech Tas keech reservoir site and the use of the farnsworth canal to provide water until late fall or early winter and again in the spring would maintain the twin pots reservoir water level at a higher level than occurs under existing conditions the projected increase in fisherman use because of the stabilization is 1100 fishing days annually 2 moon lake the regulation of water levels at taskeech Tas keech and moon lake reservoirs would be coordinated among the bureau of reclamation fish and wildlife service forest service and utah division of wildlife resources to slightly enhance the fishery at moon lake this enhance ment would provide a considerable improvement in the fishing potential at moon lake reservoir with annual use expected to increase by 14100 fishing days 3 big sand wash reservoir operation of the upalco unit would cause the reservoir to be drawn down to minimum pool more frequently for a longer period of time than would be the case without the project the maximum drawdown would occur during late summer and early fall which would reduce the fishing potential by about 3500 fisherman days annually 4 high country lakes the modification of the 14 high country lakes would have a beneficial impact on their fisheries since the stabilization of these reservoirs would improve year round habitat in terms of annual fisherman use it is estimated that the lakes would receive an increase C 37
