Relation Central Utah Project; Western Waters Digital Library; earth fill structure rising 130 feet above streambed stream bed it will have a crest length of 1465feet 1465 feet and width of 30 feet the dam will contain about 2200000 cubic cubit yards of en embankment liban niban kment material two reservoir outlets and a spillway will all be located in the right abutment of the dam the outlet to currant creek will be 3 feet in diameter with a 50 second foot capacity the outlet to strawberry aqueduct will be 9.5 95 95 feet in diameter and will have a 595 second foot capacity the spillway will be an uncontrolled morning glory type 40 feet in diameter with a capacity of 5180 second feet at maximum water level vat diversion daon dam will divert west fork of the duchesne river flow to strawberry aqueduct the unappropriated flows of hades twin wolf layout and water hollow creeks will be diverted to the strawberry aqueduct through feeder pipes the existing strawberry reservoir will be enlarged from its present capacity of 283000 acre feet to a total capacity of 1106500 acre feet and the normal water surface elevation will be raised about 45 feet this will include 951360 acre feet of active capacity and 155140 acre feet of inactive capa city the water surface area of the reservoir will be 17160 acres at normal water surface elevation strawberry reservoir enazrgement enalrgement will be formed by construction of soldier creek dam daon on strawberry river about 7 miles downstream from the existing strawberry dam which it will replace the dam will be a rolled earth fill structure about 254 feet above streambed stream bed the crest of the dam will be 1270 feet long and 30 feet wide it will contain about 3200000 cubic yards of embankment material two outlet outler works will be constructed through the left abutment of the dam with a combined capacity of 2830 second feet the upper outlet works will be 132 feet higher in the dam than the lower however both will be tunnels varying in diameter from 6 to 8 feet the lower outlet works are to be constructed in lieu of a spillway and will be used to evacuate the reservoir in case of emergency long time storage will be provided in strawberry reservoir for water prior to its diversion to the bonneville basin an average of about 197600 acre feet of water will be released annually from strawberry reservoir including 136600 acre feet developed by the bonneville unit and 61000 acre feet of normal yield from the existing reservoir outdoor recreation and fish and wildlife conservation benefits will be provided at upper stizzwater still mater and currant creek reservoirs and will be improved at the strawberry reservoir water hollon hollov hozzow tunnel 3 the terminal section of the strawberry aqueduct is the first feature of the Str strawberry ewberry complex to be constructed this 4.1 41 41 mile long tunnel will have a completed diameter of 10.5 105 105 feet and a capacity of 620 second feet construction of the tunnel beban began in may 1968 con st ruction is scheduled to begin in fiscal year 1971 on soldier creek dam currant creek dam layout currant and vat tunnels and highway 40 relocation around strawberry reservoir the central utah water conservancy district is the legal agency to repre depre sent the people of the area the district will administer the sale and delivery deliveryof of project water operate and maintain project facilities and has contracted with the US government for repayment of reimbursable costs 2
